For the second year in a row, an NBA player has been accused of throwing gang signs during a NBA playoff game.  The first sited incident was performed by Boston Celtics guard Paul Pierce during Game 3 of Boston’s playoff series against Atlanta in 2008.  The league fined Pierce for flashing a hand gesture toward Atlanta’s Al Horford, holding up his right hand, forming an “O” with his thumb and index finger and extending the other three fingers. Pierce was fined $ 25,000 for the gesture.  This year Denver Nuggets guard JR Smith is under review by NBA commissioner David Stern for making the same gang related gestures during game 4 of the 2009 Playoff series versus the LA Lakers.
