Rap Beef in the 21st Century

First

Then

Now

Battles have been pretty wack since Jay and Nas. But the last 3 have been pretty interesting to me. The Charles Hamilton vs Soulja Boy was funny because of how completely manufactured it was. Its too bad because i d/l a couple of the mixtapes CH droped on the blogs. There were a few joints on each mix, he had a diff story and i wanted to see where he was going w/ it. Other blogs have broken down how both their labels got together to Wag the Dog so i wont get into it but its BS.

The 50 vs Officer Rawse “battle” is hilarious. I haven’t seen 50 this funny since the beef w/ Cam and to be honest im glad. I was never feelin Rick Ross (although the maybach music joint was hot and we got a good verse out of Jay) and after the way his PR fumbled the info about his last gig, it was definitely time to go.

But the best of the best has been the Saigon vs. Joe Budden battle. Ooooooooh thank god some LYRICISTS decided to battle. And for that reason alone do i really give a fuck about the battle. Now i do think Sai took Joey’s bars out of context in the beginning, but who really cares about that now. If you haven’t listened to any of these disses, the last two are the best:

damn i didnt even have to post both.

Apparently there were (or weren’t) phone calls after Sai’s last diss so who knows if there will be a retort from Joe, but if anything Joe is gettin more pub and Sai sounds hungry again.
