Summer Soundtrack Part 1. The Cool Kids – Gone Fishing

I got a lot of hate last year when I was playin their first EP.  There we’re a couple stand out tracks, but a lot of the songs sounded similar and people were calling them one cool-kidshit wonders, hipster rappers, etc.  A year later, after tours, videos and cameos, the Cool Kids have Gone Fishing for the summer and its a banger.

Chuck’s been stepping his production up so its dope to hear new tracks, especially when I heard Cannon co-produced a lot of these.  I always thought Mikey was the better emcee and his flow is evolving as well, new patterns, etc.  You’re not going to find a lot of different subject matter on this, but when I’m at the beach or at a bbq (or hopefully both) I don’t want to hear all that.  If you ARE looking for some more complex rhyming, you need to download that new Joell Ortiz mixtape with Green Lantern.

Otherwise put these tracks in your playlist:

Hammer Time
Cinnamon
Step Back
Popcorn
The Light Company
Pennies remix (ft. Luda and Bun B)
I definitely think these cats will be around for a while.  Dropping an album each summer, touring for a year and then doing it again doesn’t sound like a bad gig.  And if you like the Tee’s that Ari and Phee are rockin’ in the last note, check out Twon NYC.  Shoutout to Cory who brought those joints by.
